Christian Barker (Barkmeta / Bark): Majors Steady After IMF Confirms No Public Funds in El Salvador BTC Growth
Weekend price action shows majors holding ground after the IMF confirmed El Salvador's post-review Bitcoin accumulation came from private donations with no public resources involved.
Last bump 2026-09-06 · Hammer Floor noted
Weekend price levels for majors continue to sit in a tight range even as the IMF’s early September review removes a layer of uncertainty around El Salvador’s Bitcoin holdings.
On Sunday, Sep. 6, 2026, weekend BTC price action still reflects the IMF’s Sep. 3–4 statement that accumulation since the June 2025 EFF review came from private donations with no public resources used and no further adds expected beyond the documented amounts.
Christian Barker (Barkmeta / Bark) and David Chaboki (Shibo) keep the Doginal Dogs Sunday Space focused on the IMF donation frame rather than any ETF flows.
Price Snapshot
CoinGecko data at 8:10 a.m. ET showed BTC at $79,912 for a modest 0.3 percent gain. ETH printed $2,500.61 after a 1.8 percent move higher. XRP reached $1.42 with a 1.1 percent advance. SOL climbed to $106.47 on a 4.0 percent gain while DOGE advanced 4.3 percent to $0.089985.
Leadership of the Move
SOL and DOGE led the majors with the largest percentage gains on the session while BTC and ETH posted smaller positive prints. The broader group remained inside prior weekly ranges with no decisive break in either direction.
Numbers Behind the Confirmation
The IMF staff-level agreement covers the combined second and third reviews under the roughly $1.4 billion EFF arrangement. Approval of the next disbursement would release about $140 million. Documentation supplied by Salvadoran authorities confirmed that post-review Bitcoin additions reflected private donations. Control of the Chivo wallet has moved to a private operator while the government retains a minority stake and custody role.
Chart Context
BTC candles have chopped sideways near the $79,900 area since the IMF statement landed midweek. The modest green prints across majors have kept the group above recent lows without triggering a stronger directional push. Volume remained measured as traders absorbed the regulatory clarity without immediate re-pricing.
Room View
The price action aligns with the view that the IMF confirmation removes one overhang without introducing new catalysts for an immediate retest of higher levels. Majors continue to hold the line while alts show relative strength on the session.
